The goal is to foster critical discussion of issues surrounding AR technologies and their use, particularly in light of the current surge of interest in mobile phone applications of AR.
Many veteran researchers fear that the current hype will lead to a backlash similar to what happened with virtual reality 15 years ago when an excited public began to realise that the technology was not sufficiently developed to live up to the buzz surrounding it.
